Lyrics, The Word

Wonderful, Merciful Savior

How beautiful is the Lord’s grace upon us! Us, who murder Him with every sin. As I grow in the Lord, the more I become aware, no, awed at this fact! With every sin, I see how amazing and incomprehensible it is that Christ would love me. It is this constant realization that keeps our love for our beautiful Savior strong, even through trials.

Here are the lyrics to a song eloquently describing this love for us.  Each verse speaks of a Person of the Trinity and their relationship with us. Jesus, the Son, is spoken of in the first verse, and His rescuing us from our sin. The second verse is about the Spirit, our Counselor, Comforter, Keeper, offering the hope of salvation to our depraved hearts. The last verse constructs an image of our Almighty Father, calling us to fall before His throne. When it speaks of His faithfulness, it brings to mind 2 Timothy 2:13, If we are faithless, He remains faithful, for He cannot deny Himself. Each Person is brought together as the Trinity in the chorus, where it says, “You are the One we adore,” referring to the Trinity as a whole, not each individual face.

I hope and pray the reader finds much encouragement from this song, and from the remembrance of the undeserved gift of true love.

Wonderful, Merciful Savior

Precious Redeemer and Friend

Who would have thought that a Lamb could

Rescue the souls of men

Oh, You rescue the souls of men

Counselor, Comforter, Keeper

Spirit we long to embrace

You offer hope when our hearts have

Hopelessly lost our way

Oh, we’ve hopelessly lost our way

You are the One that we praise

You are the One we adore

You give the healing and grace

Our hearts always hunger for

Oh, our hearts always hunger for

Almighty, Infinite, Father

Faithfully loving your own

Here in our weakness You find us

Falling before Your throne

Oh, we’re falling before Your throne
